Love me some Dream Theater, kickass band. Every member is incredible.

Myung is all over the fretboard with great precision and ridiculous rhythm, Portnoy is a monster at drums, just all over the place, Petrucci is a god at guitar with his ridiculous, what, 24 nps triplets? haha. Rudess is a flat out crazy musician with all sorts of powerful theory tunnels in his mind.

LaBrie however.. it's too bad his voice was blown out, because he had a really nice timbre back then. He's still an incredible singer pitch-wise, hitting such high notes without falsetto.

This song of mine was inspired by them greatly (sorry for blatant advertising) http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/liste n/170628

Sorry for taking so long to reply, don't go on Newgrounds much these days :P

Yes, you pretty much described my thoughts of Dream Theater in a nutshell, I would consider them my biggest influence as a musician. LaBrie was far better in the 80s, I agree. I consider Images and Words the greatest album ever made :D
